calls the corresponding Windows function. Don't know if Macrium has either such a functionality built-in resp. Preparing such a shrink operation via defragmentation hence increases Windows flexibility. Windows disk manager doesn't allow such operations, proposing shrinking only to a size without such side-effects. Don't know the effect if shrinking puts file segments beyond the new size. chkdsk is the command to try repairing certain kind of such inconsistencies. Shrinking of a file system should lead to inconsistencies. So did you follow the advice in the error message and performed a chkdsk operation? Did that error message persist even after such an operation? I did resize it in Macrium as I mentioned in my post, but it still fails with the error message I mentioned Don't know how to declare a disk as slave in SATA. I know such a term only back in history in times of (P)ATA disks. Is it because I'm using it as a slave on my desktop PC? The drive still works fine in the laptop, so do I really need to run chkdsk on it or is this error likely caused by something else? Yet, when I start the cloning process, it always fails with this error:Ĭlone failed - Error 0 - Unable to match partition - Drive 4, Start Sector 103135232-MFT corrupt - Error code = 6. DELLSUPPORT (None) NTFS Primary 645.4MB of 1.11GBĪnyhow, I'm able to copy the first 4 partitions to the SSD, though partition 3 OS(G) claims it's to big, so I select the option to minimize it, which brings it down to it's actual "used space" of 45.59GB, and thus fits perfectly on the disk layout table in Macrium. The 2TB hdd has 6 partitions, which I don't really care about the last two: DellSupport and Dell's Recovery Imageġ. I'm using Macrium Reflect to perform the cloning. The 2TB hdd connected via sata and the new 250GB SSD connected via a USB 3 adapter. Since the laptop only has the slower USB 2, I am using my Windows 7 desktop PC to perform the clone. The 2TB hdd only has 45.59GB of used space, so I have plenty of room to spare for the ssd. I'm wanting to replace my Windows 10 2TB hdd with a 250GB ssd in my Dell laptop Inspiron 15-3567.
